When you’re running a busy establishment and need extra table space - whether for a larger number of guests or to manage a catered event - commercial folding tables give you the flexibility you need. They’re harder wearing than conventional folding tables, capable of handling more weight, more frequent use, and can be put up quickly when you need them most. You’ll find features like stainless steel supports and frames, easy to clean surfaces, and come with non-abrasive feet so you’re able to put them on a range of surfaces without risking the condition of the floor.
The shape of a trestle folding table plays a role in the layout you can arrange guests in but will also affect your total seating capacity. We stock both rectangular and round tables, both of which have their own benefits.
Rectangular tables are ideal for creating long rows, making it easy to space food out for a buffet service, or to seat guests on both sides to maximise your use of space. They’re arguably the best choice for large events or conferences. Round folding tables are better for seating guests, and can make for a more immersive social setting, which is why we recommend them for weddings, family events, and parties that have a more informal nature.
When you’re looking at the materials that your foldable tables are made from, we recommend considering how hard-wearing they are and also what maintenance would be required to keep them in good condition. You’ll want folding tables that can handle spilled drinks, hot plates, regular cleaning and can handle an adequate amount of weight.
Options with polyethylene top and a steel frame and legs are our top recommendation. They’re water-resistant, easy to wipe down, and can handle spills without warping or absorbing liquids. And, they can handle plenty of plates without buckling while still being lightweight enough to easily pack down at the end of the day. Stainless steel is useful to have in your tables as it’s corrosion resistant, meaning that even if your events are outdoors, or the legs themselves get wet, they’ll stay in good condition for longer with less intensive care.
If you’re looking for commercial folding tables to serve food on, they’ll need to be able to handle anywhere up to 100 kilos, especially for buffet services where you have countertop appliances containing hot food like portable bain maries or soup kettles. Depending on the size, material, and shape, most commercial tables will be able to accommodate all the serving equipment you need - though if you’re looking for something with a higher capacity, generally long rectangular tables are the best option, especially those with reinforced steel frames and additional leg support. If you’re unsure which table is best for your business, please contact our support team and we can offer you a personal recommendation.
Depending on the layout of your restaurant, or the way you run your catering business, you have a few options. Our range of trestle tables pack down to be totally flat, though the main challenge may be the models that weigh 30 kilos plus, which may require two members of staff to move and store. Generally, stacking tables is a good option as they’ll take up less space. We do recommend stacking carefully to avoid damaging any of the parts that need to lock into place or you may risk the structural integrity of your tables.
Yes, almost all our models of collapsable tables can be used both indoors and outside. Look for the options made from high-density polyethylene (HDPE) as these are the easiest to clean and won’t stain or warp when they’re exposed to damp air or rain. Equally, they’re far more resilient when you’re outdoors in the sun, as they’re less likely to fade or crack after extended periods of UV exposure. Many are non-slip, though you can add an additional layer on top if you’re concerned about wind or movement. We do recommend wiping them down and drying any damp areas before storage to keep them in the best possible condition for longer.
While commercial folding tables are hard wearing, there are some things you can do to extend their lifespan. Caring for the joints in particular will help ease of assembly and disassembly, so adding lubricant to any moving parts that may get stiff will help faster setup and pack down. Equally, cleaning the surface of any food or drink stains at the end of every shift is important both for food health and safety, but also to prevent stains and damage. If you have multiple folding tables, when you’re storing them, make sure they’re kept in a dry, cool space to prevent warping due to heat or water. Along with storing them in a proper location, avoiding stacking them too high to prevent strain on the frames, giving you much more use out of them for the long term.
